OUR STORY

Five Pointz Golf was born in Long Island City, Queens and its name is a tribute to a piece of New York history that changed the way the world looked at street art.

Before Five Pointz became a globally recognized destination for aerosol art, the site was a collection of industrial warehouses and distribution spaces in the heart of Long Island City. In the 1990s, the complex became known as the Phun Phactory, providing artists with a place to legally create. By the early 2000s, under the curation of artist Jonathan “Meres One” Cohen, the site evolved into what became known around the world as 5Pointz — an open-air gallery covered in work from artists from New York and around the globe.

The walls became more than concrete. They became a canvas for individuality, creativity, community and self-expression.
In 2013, the artwork was whitewashed ahead of the buildings' eventual demolition to make way for new development. Twenty-one artists brought a federal lawsuit, arguing that the destruction violated the Visual Artists Rights Act. In 2018, a federal judge awarded the artists $6.75 million in statutory damages, a decision that was later upheld by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
That history is where our name comes from.

Five Pointz Golf isn't trying to recreate 5Pointz. We're carrying forward what it represented to us: a place where culture doesn't have to ask permission to exist, where creativity belongs in unexpected places, and where you don't have to fit the traditional mold to belong.
Golf has its own walls...who plays, what a golfer looks like, where they come from, and what they're supposed to wear.
We're here to knock those walls down.
